Power Automate Desktop June 2021 update
We are happy to announce that the June 2021 update of Power Automate Desktop has been released! You can download the latest release here. New features and updates have been added, as described below.
Ability to run desktop flows from another desktop flow
Users will now be able to run desktop flows from another desktop flow, via the introduction of the respective action. In this way, large automation processes can be segregated into smaller, more autonomous flows.
Auto-switching to image based recorder upon detection of RDP and Citrix environments
In a previous release, the image-based recorder was introduced to permit recording of automation tasks, relying on image recognition and text extraction with OCR, in case element-based automation was not possible. With the new addition on this feature, the desktop recorder now smartly detects a Citrix or RDP environment during recording, automatically switching the recording mode to the image-based one.
Improvements in configuration of Windows-related actions
The following action configuration improvements have taken place:
- Windows environment variables can be retrieved automatically in the ‘Set Windows environment variable’ and ‘Delete Windows environment variable’ actions.
- Windows processes and services can be retrieved automatically in several relevant actions, like ‘Start service’ or ‘Wait for process’.
Announcing deprecation of action ‘Create MODI OCR engine’
This is a kind reminder that the ability to initialize and utilize the MODI OCR engine will be removed from Power Automate Desktop in July’s release. You can find more information here.
