Power Automate Desktop August 2021 update

We are happy to announce that the August 2021 update of Power Automate Desktop has been released! You can download the latest release here. New features and updates have been added, as described below.

Actionable connectivity error messages in console and designer

Connectivity error messages in Power Automate Desktop are being improved, including more descriptive text and potential remediation steps, along with a new UI for these errors.

Connectivity error

When a connectivity error occurs, regarding for instance license, environment, update, sign-in issues or problems with fetching or saving a flow, it has not always been easy to understand what went wrong and what needs to be done to amend that error. With this feature, more descriptive error messages have started being introduced per specific scenario, trying to capture the exact error cause and display the proper message to the user.

Introduction of new Excel related actions

New Excel actions have been included and are available to use in the flow designer:

  • Get active cell in Excel worksheet
  • Get column name in Excel worksheet
  • Delete from Excel worksheet
  • Find and replace cells in Excel worksheet

Find and replace in Excel

In addition, a new option has been introduced in the ‘Read from Excel’ action, to read all available data in a worksheet.

Improvement of the action ‘Set screen resolution’

In Power Automate Desktop, the ‘Set screen resolution’ action now provides the user with the option to select one of the available resolutions of their machine’s monitors during authoring, rather than the user having to manually provide the resolution values in the respective fields.

Selecting one of the options in the list will auto-populate the corresponding fields in the action modal.
