Simplifying license management for admins with user license auto-claim for Power Automate

We’re excited to announce the general availability of auto-claim for Power Automate licenses, a feature that simplifies license management for admins and enhances the user experience. With auto-claim for Power Automate licenses, admins can set up policies in the Microsoft 365 admin center that automatically assign licenses to users who need them.

Power Automate is a powerful tool that enables users to automate workflows across multiple applications and services. With Power Automate, users can create cloud flows, desktop flows, and business process flows that connect to many data sources and perform various actions. To access the full potential of Power Automate, users need to have the appropriate licenses that match their usage scenarios.

However, assigning and managing licenses for Power Automate can be a complex and time-consuming task for administrators. They need to manually track the license consumption of each user and ensure that they have the required licenses to run their flows. This can result in inefficiencies, compliance issues, and user frustration.

With auto-claim for Power Automate licenses, admins can set up policies in the Microsoft 365 admin center that automatically assign licenses to users who need them, reducing the administrative burden, ensure compliance, and improve user satisfaction & productivity.  In this blog post, we’ll show you how to create an auto-claim policy for Power Automate licenses and how to view the license assignment report.

 

Set up auto-claim for Power Automate

To set up an auto-claim policy for Power Automate, go to the Licenses section of the Microsoft 365 admin center and then create new policy under the Auto-claim policy tab:

 

 

You can create an auto-claim policy that applies to the following Power Automate licenses:

• Power Automate premium plan
• Power Automate per user plan (legacy)

 

The auto-claim policy for Power Automate licenses will be applied in the following scenarios when the user do not have the required licenses:

• User triggers / saves / turns on a premium flow (or standard flow for managed environments)
• User requests a Power Automate user-based license
