Microsoft Inspire 2017 session recap

New updates to Microsoft Flow allow for richer administrative and lifecycle control – solutions built with Flow can be imported and exported as packages. Microsoft Flow also has integration Azure Logic apps: any Flow can now be converted to a Logic app. To enable richer Flow, Customers can now use Excel-like expressions in Flow actions and configure button inputs and button sharing. Finally, a range of Microsoft products – including SharePoint, OneDrive for Business and Dynamics 365 – are adding the power of end-user automation by embedding Flow more deeply in their user experiences and will be available in the coming weeks.

Enter expressions in any action—get the current time, add numbers together, replace a part of text, and much more. Flows use the same language as Azure Logic Apps, and if you’re not familiar with it, there’s inline help with details on every expression.

Save your flows as Azure Logic App resource templates. These templates can be deployed through Visual Studio or directly in the Azure portal to a subscription of your choice.

Export and import flow solutions across environments or from test to production. Solutions can include PowerApps, database entities, and you can even move flows across tenants.

Introducing new connection configuration option for button flows, that now allows you to build richer, more advanced flows and share them within your organization.

If you’re going to be late to a meeting, tap this button flow. It will send you an approval notification telling you who is at your next meeting. Approving will email all of those people that you’ll be late, or, rejecting will do nothing. You can even provide comments in the approval, and they will be included in the email.

There are a number of updates this week. Now, it’s easy to publish your flows to the public template gallery and add categories to them. The Office 365 Outlook and Outlook.com connectors have new operations for getting the upcoming events on your calendar. You can run scheduled flows with a single tap on the Flow mobile app, and resubmit your failed flows. Finally, there are several new features in the custom connector experience: create polling triggers, dynamic dropdowns, and test operations inline.
